Retrieval of Dust Properties From Spectral Snow Reflectance Measurements

چکیده
In this paper, we present a simplified algorithm to retrieve snow grain size, dust mass absorption coefficient and concentration from spectral diffuse reflectance measurements at three wavelengths located in the visible near infrared. The theoretical model is then compared with field spectroscopy data collected different days an automated spectrometer Alps.

Spectral reflectance of antarctic snow: "Ground truth" and spacecraft measurements
W IL cr lion depicted in figure 2, had an overall degree of polarization of about 20 percent, but near its inner edge the polarization was considerably less because of the birefringence effect. No change of sign of the polarization was observed in that region. • The 120 parhelion is in horizontally polarized light about 0.2' higher over the horizon and 0.05' closer to the sun than in vertically...
متن کاملSpectral bidirectional reflectance of Antarctic snow: Measurements and parameterization
[1] The bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) of snow was measured from a 32-m tower at Dome C, at latitude 75 S on the East Antarctic Plateau. These measurements were made at 96 solar zenith angles between 51 and 87 and cover wavelengths 350–2400 nm, with 3to 30-nm resolution, over the full range of viewing geometry. The BRDF at 900 nm had previously been measured at the South...
متن کاملRetrieving skin properties from in vivo spectral reflectance measurements.
A previously developed inverse method was applied to in vivo normal-hemispherical spectral reflectance measurements taken on the inner and outer forearm as well as the forehead of healthy white Caucasian and black African subjects. The inverse method was used to determine the thickness and melanin concentration in the epidermis, dermal blood volume fraction and oxygen saturation, and skin's spe...
متن کاملDIFFUSE REFLECTANCE MEASUREMENTS FROM DIFFERENT SURFACES
Relative diffuse reflection measurements from the original and ground surfaces using a He-Ne laser are reported. The intensity measurements for the metallic, transparent dielectric, matte plastic surfaces and colored papers are presented. Our results indicate that among metallic surfaces tested, aluminum has the highest diffuse reflectance; while the original stainless steel surface shows the l...
متن کاملEmpirical anisotropic spectral reflectance model for snow derived from
Modeling the anisotropic reflectance of snow will be important for various applications, like climatology, meteorology and water management. Accurate climatic and meteorological modeling of energy balance needs to take the anisotropic effect into account. This is also the case for accurate snow-cover mapping for water management. This paper describes the development of an empirical model for th...
